The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the second best time is today!

SEO is very similar to planting a seed and nurturing it so it grows into a mighty force to be reckoned with. If you’re a small business owner or entrepreneur, it’s important for you to understand that SEO is essential for a significant portion of a business’s success.

But with so much to do and not enough hours in the day, it can be tough to know where to start. That’s why I’ve put together this list of 5 things To Do Right Now to Boost SEO for your website. Start with these tips today and you’ll see a big improvement in your search engine rankings – with more opportunities for website traffic coming your way!

1. Optimize Google My Business Page

Google My Business (now called Google Business Profile) is a free tool that allows businesses to manage their online presence on Google. By setting up and verifying your Google Business Profile listing, you can boost your SEO, connect with customers, and build brand awareness by helping potential customers find your business listing.

Here are some tips for setting up and managing your GMB listing:

By following these tips, you can make the most of your Google Business Profile listing and boost your chances of showing up in search results. For even more hot tips on how to get Google Reviews check out my recent blog.

2. Create Content That Links to Your Website

One of the best ways to boost your website’s SEO is to create content that links back to your site (see what I did there?). This can be in the form of videos, blog posts, guest blogs on other websites, or even social media posts.

By creating compelling content, you can attract attention & traffic to your site, and ultimately boost your ranking in search engine results pages. In addition, linking to your website from other websites can also help to improve your SEO. By appearing on websites (guest blogs, podcasts or other collaborations) with a strong domain authority for high quality content and high-traffic web pages, you can show search engines that your site is relevant and trustworthy, leading to a boost in your website’s ranking. Ultimately, creating quality content and building links is essential for any successful SEO strategy.

3. Go through your website and look for opportunities to add internal and external links

As part of your website’s SEO strategy, it’s important to add both internal and external links throughout your content (**where appropriate to do so**). Internal links are links that go from one page of your website to another page on the same website. This is important because it helps boost the SEO of the website by showing search engines that the website is well-connected, informative and content is easy to find for users.

External links are links that go from your website to a different website. This is also important for boosting SEO, as it shows that the website is well-connected to other relevant websites. External links are a great way to help out other websites that are creating valuable content. Having a website with a large monthly audience externally link (back link) to your content will help increase your website’s domain authority & traffic.

4. Update old content with improvements and re-publish

One way to boost your website’s SEO is by updating old content with improvements and then re-publishing it. This shows Google that your site is active and relevant, and it can also help to improve your site’s ranking for certain keywords. When updating your content, be sure to focus on making substantive changes that will improve the quality of your site. This could include adding new information, fixing errors, improving the overall clarity of your writing, adding new internal and external links, or adding photos or videos.

Once you’ve made your changes, simply republish the updated content and share it on all of your social media channels multiple times to give it a big SEO boost!

5. Optimize the photos on your website - alt tags, file name, file size

If you’re looking to boost your website’s SEO now, one of the best things you can do is optimize the images on your website. This means renaming your image files to reflect the keywords you’re targeting, and adding alt tags to describe the images. Both of these things will help search engines index your images more effectively, and ultimately lead to more traffic.

Optimizing your images can also help to speed up your website. This is because smaller file sizes will load faster. Visitors are likely to leave if a page takes too long to load. So, if you want to boost your SEO and improve your website’s performance, make sure to optimize your photos.

Give your image a descriptive file name and add an alt tag. This will help boost your SEO and ensure that your image appears in Google Image Search results. For example, if you have a photo of a blue vase, you could rename it “blue-vase.jpg” and add an alt tag that says “blue vase on a white table.” By taking these simple steps, you can make sure your images are helping boost your website’s SEO rank.

SEO is a vital piece of your marketing strategy. It can be the difference between people finding you or your competition. Using these 5 strategies will help boost your SEO, but this is just the beginning. Stay tuned for future articles that will help your website move up the ranks.
