This week, the Chamber had the pleasure of touring Shorehaven, with Sarah Williams-Berg, Director of Community Relations and Betsy Bright, Director of Donor Relations. The 23-acre campus on Lac La Belle is impressive not just for its size, but for the breadth of services and living options they offer, from independent living and assisted living to memory care and rehabilitation.

We loved seeing the community in action: their beautiful grounds, welcoming common areas, and the robust amenities available through their Center for Life Enrichment, including dining, social spaces, fitness, and wellness. The entire campus is designed so seniors can live with dignity, connection, and purpose. An added highlight of the visit was the buzz of excitement as staff and volunteers were busy decking the halls with gorgeous holiday decorations.

The personal touches throughout the community were truly inspiring, from meeting a resident who started a homemade-greeting-card-making group that raises money for local organizations, to the cozy libraries and volunteers who run the little ‘corner store.’ Shorehaven leadership clearly holds high standards for the quality of life they provide. Along their well-known skywalk, one resident regularly posts inspiring and funny quotes for people to enjoy on their walk.

To top off the visit, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at Rockwell’s Restaurant. The restaurant and views were a great taste of the warm hospitality and vibrant community life that Shorehaven fosters.

Shorehaven creates strong community partnerships with local businesses and organizations. During this visit, students from Oconomowoc High School were giving “TED Talks” to the residents on topics that enhance the learning of both generations. The packed room was learning about the pros and cons of self-driving cars during our visit.

Thanks to Shorehaven, and especially to Sarah and Betsy, for hosting us and giving such a thoughtful, informative tour. It’s clear why Shorehaven is “Trusted for Generations.”
